Marriott International has signed an agreement with Townhouse Hotels to add eight hotels and more than 700 rooms in the Netherlands, spread across Amsterdam, The Hague, Maastricht, Eindhoven and Breda. Six properties join Series by Marriott, a collection brand making its Dutch debut; the other two join Tribute Portfolio, Marriott's collection of independent-minded hotels.
The deal gives Marriott its first hotels in Maastricht and Eindhoven. The company already operates more than 30 properties in the Netherlands across 12 brands, including W Hotels, Sheraton, Courtyard, Moxy and citizenM. Townhouse Hotels, founded in Maastricht in 2008, runs ten hotels in the country — all of which will move under Marriott brands.
Which hotels join Series by Marriott?
Series by Marriott groups established regional hotel brands under one roof, targeting travellers who want comfort, value and a local feel, with each hotel keeping its identity. The six Townhouse hotels carry the "Townhouse" name plus their city and "Series by Marriott", and total 494 rooms:
- Townhouse Amsterdam WTC – 84 rooms in the Zuidas business district, rebranded from Hotel Qbic WTC Amsterdam
- Townhouse The Hague – 88 rooms near government institutions, international organisations and cultural sites
- Townhouse Maastricht – 82 rooms near the historic centre
- Townhouse Mabi Maastricht – 55 rooms in a former cinema
- Townhouse Kaboom Maastricht – 79 rooms with a design-led, lifestyle concept
- Townhouse Breda – 106 rooms, rebranded from Hotel Keyser and the largest Series by Marriott hotel in the group
What do the Tribute Portfolio additions bring?
The Ald Hotel The Hague and Hotel Mariënhage Eindhoven become Tribute Portfolio hotels, adding 225 rooms to the deal total. The Ald has 91 rooms and is a boutique property with contemporary design. Mariënhage has 134 rooms in a former monastery complex, pairing historic architecture with modern amenities. It also marks Marriott's arrival in Eindhoven, a technology and innovation hub.
Tribute Portfolio gathers hotels with individual design, lively social spaces and local ties. The two additions grow the brand's European presence and give Marriott another pair of independent-style hotels in a market where it already fields a broad brand range.
What did the executives say?
Marriott's Jerome Briet, Chief Development Officer for Europe, Middle East & Africa, called the agreement a milestone for the company in the Netherlands, pointing to the mix of independent hospitality experiences and the entry into two new cities.
Rick de Jonge, CEO of Townhouse Hotels, described the deal as a defining moment for his team and said it opens access to new guests and markets. Joost Mees of European Hotel Capital, which backs Townhouse Hotels, said the move strengthens the company's foundation for growth in the years ahead.
Marriott said the deal fits its broader push to grow in Europe through established owners and operators. The company has more than 10,000 properties in 148 countries and territories as of June 30, 2026.
No opening dates were disclosed for the rebranded properties. Townhouse Hotels says it wants to prove that scale and individuality can coexist, and the reflagged hotels are expected to join the Marriott portfolio as the roll-out proceeds.
