Boojum will spend €600,000 on a new restaurant at Swords Pavilions Shopping Centre in North Dublin, creating 25 jobs when the site opens on Thursday, October 22.
The opening marks the Mexican food chain's 10th restaurant in County Dublin and extends a post-acquisition growth strategy focused on prime suburban retail hubs across Ireland.
CEO David Maxwell said: "This €600,000 investment and the 25 new jobs it creates underline our continued commitment to expanding our Irish presence."
Why Swords, and why now?
The chain has targeted the town for some time. Maxwell said: "As one of Ireland's top ten urban centres and a key commercial hub, Swords has been a priority target on our roadmap for a long time."
He added: "We've tracked huge local appetite for Boojum across North Dublin, so establishing a footprint here was the natural next move."
The site occupies a 1,700 sq ft ground-floor unit and seats 90 covers. Operations will span four channels:
- Full sit-in dining
- Takeaway
- Click and collect
- Delivery
What does the location deliver?
Swords Pavilions gives the brand three specific advantages, according to Maxwell: "strong retail footfall, a substantial catchment, and close proximity to the Dublin Airport employment corridor."
Ian Hunter, centre director at Pavilions Shopping Centre, said: "The investment and new jobs it brings are hugely positive news for the centre and the wider Swords area, and we're looking forward to welcoming the Boojum team and its many loyal customers when the doors open on October 22."
Ten sites and counting
Reaching double digits in County Dublin sets a benchmark for the chain's density in the capital. Maxwell framed the milestone as a platform rather than a ceiling: "Reaching 10 restaurants in County Dublin is a major milestone, and we remain as ambitious as ever about our growth pipeline."
For suburban landlords and retail park operators, the deal signals continued demand from food brands for well-located, high-footfall units in Dublin's commuter belt. For competitors in the Mexican fast-casual segment, a tenth Dublin site raises pressure on rival operators evaluating the same catchments.
The Swords restaurant opens its doors on October 22, with further site announcements expected as Boojum works through its stated growth pipeline across Ireland.
